Slow Cooker Maple Glazed Ham Recipe (1)

Our Slow Cooker Maple Glazed Ham is so easy to make!

It’s perfect for holidays like Easter and Christmas, but also simple enough to make on a busy weekday!

It tastes amazing with eggs and hash browns in the morning. We also put our leftover ham in our Ham and Pineapple Roll Ups.

What if my ham is too big for my slow cooker?

If you have a large ham, follow these steps to still cook it in your slow cooker.

  • You will need two sheets of tin foil that are12 inches long.
  • I tucked the ends all around the edges of the crock pot and then gathered them together in the middle and folded the ends down (The plastic around the edges is my slow cooker liner).
  • I did not completely wrap the ham in foil- I just tucked it down the sides of the slow cooker. You want to make a “roof” for your ham.
  • To keep the heat in even more, place atowel over the topof your tinfoil tent.

How do I make ham gravy?

There is no other gravy, quite like ham gravy. I am obsessed with ham gravy and mashed potatoes. If you have never tried ham gravy, you need to because it is so easy to make.

Here is how to make it:

Once your ham is done, remove it from your slow cooker.

Make your gravy by mixing, the ham drippings (I will usually strain out all the fat or ham chunks that fell off as it cooked, if there are any, just to avoid lumps in my gravy), 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch with 1 Tablespoon of milk or water. Whisk it until it is completely smooth and there are not lumps. I also like to let it come to a boil to thicken if it is thin.

I like to pour this gravy over my potatoes and ham.

Have made this ham twice now and everyone loves it . I cut back a little bit on the mustard this time but otherwise made it according to the directions . The first time I cooked it for 6 hours and I think that was a little too long so went with 5 hrs this time and it was perfect .

  3. Jamie says:

I want to make this for Christmas but I'm a little confused by your video versus the recipe instructions. Do I put the lid on the crockpot or do I just cover the ham with foil and a towel? Thank you!

FAQs

Can you heat a fully cooked ham in the slow cooker? ›

A large slow cooker, with its moist environment, is perfect for reheating a fully-cooked ham. As the ham heats up, it releases juices that blend with the glaze, creating a delicious sauce to spoon over the sliced meat.

Do you put the glaze on a ham before you cook it or after you cook it? ›

The glaze should not be applied until the final hour to 30 minutes, in order to avoid burning the sugars. What you're going to do with the glaze ingredients is just combine most of them into a paste, and then apply it to the ham. After that, the heat in your oven will take care of everything.

What cut of meat is used for glazed ham? ›

A honey-glazed ham is usually made with a spiral cut ham. This is achieved by cutting the meat from an in-bone city ham in a spiral fashion, leaving the meat on the bone in its usual shape. It means the meat can be evenly sliced once it's cooked rather than carved from the bone.

How long does it take to heat up a precooked ham in a slow cooker? ›

As a rule of thumb, an eight to 10-pound precooked ham will take about four to six hours on low in a slow cooker. But a smaller ham that's four to six pounds may only need two to three hours when cooked on low.

Does ham need to be submerged in slow cooker? ›

Pour in the cola, and make sure the ham joint is submerged in the liquid. Cover and cook for 5-6 hours on medium/high. I find that 5 hours is enough in my slow cooker. You want the gammon joint to be cooked through and tender but still retain its shape.

Do you cook ham face up or down? ›

Allow 20 minutes per pound when calculating how long to bake a fully cooked ham. For example, if the ham weighs 8 pounds, the cooking time would be 2 hour and 40 minutes. A fully cooked half ham will weigh approximately 3 to 4 pounds. Cooking time for a 3 pound ham would be 1 hour.

How do you get glaze to stick to ham? ›

I've found that just tenting the ham with foil does the job. Keep it tented until you brush on the glaze. Once glaze in on the ham, remove the foil so the glaze has a chance to get all caramelized and yummy.

Why put cloves in ham? ›

How do you cook a precooked ham without drying it out? ›

How long can ham stay in crockpot on warm? ›

Most appliances will automatically shut off after 20 or so hours on this setting, but you shouldn't leave food in a slow cooker for an extended length of time. The general rule of thumb is that 2-4 hours is the maximum length of time you can leave food in a slow cooker on warm.
