American cheese sauce is so easy to make that you will never buy expensive store bought cheese sauce again. You only need 2 ingredients for this easy recipe.

Did you know that you can use those cheap American cheese slices to make your own cheese sauce? American cheese sauce is really that easy!
It is so simple that the kids can make it. We always have American cheese in the fridge and the kids love when I make this cheese sauce. Can you believe you ONLY need 2 ingredients?!
It is delicious on broccoli. Learn how to steam broccoli in the microwave in minutes and add this cheese sauce. It is one of our favorite side dishes for dinner and so quick and easy!
American cheese sauce ingredients:
- 3 to 4 slices of American Cheese
- 1 tablespoon milk
That is all you need!
How to melt cheese slices:
Chop them up and place in a microwave safe bowl. Next, add 1 Tablespoon of milk.
Microwave for about 3o seconds to a minute (Keep your eye on it).
Stir until melted.

This is my favorite way to make cheese sauce, because there is no mess and you can use the inexpensive cheese that you have on hand! It turns out amazing and you can cook just the amount you need each time.
Whip up this nacho cheese in minutes for a great treat anytime you want cheese sauce. I could literally just eat it with tortilla chips. Yum!
No need to stir in flour or any other ingredients. This is so simple and literally just cheese slices and water.
How much did this cost me?
I bought the entire package of cheese (12 slices) for only $.50. I used 3 slices of cheese.
That means this cheese sauce only cost my family $.04 to make!! You can’t really get more frugal than that.
Plus, I love that you can make what you need. When you buy the ones from the store you have to buy the jar and often you don’t need an entire jar.
This is perfect for when you just need a little bit for broccoli or other dishes.
The money and time saved is awesome! Plus, it really tastes so good.
I love when easy recipes that are so inexpensive to make turn out so good. My family asks for this all the time.
Even the kids will eat more veggies if they have cheese sauce. I think that is a mom win.

Ingredients
- 16 Slices American Cheese
- 1/4 cup Milk
Instructions
Unwrap the cheese and tear the slices into smaller pieces.
Place the cheese and milk into a microwave safe bowl.
Microwave the mixture uncovered in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval until the cheese has melted and is well combined with the milk.
Serve over your favorite veggie and enjoy!
